Together with the Histadrut, the workers and management of KONE Elevators Israel (formerly Isralift) signed a new collective agreement late last month to improve pay and working conditions for approximately 350 workers. The agreement, which will remain in effect for three years, includes an annual salary increase of 8%.

The agreement also includes an upgraded bonus model for technicians, a retention bonus and a signing bonus, a threefold increase in the union-managed welfare budget, increased company participation in meal funding, an additional vacation day, a bonus for technicians who back up an additional area, and reimbursement of work-related expenses.

“After prolonged negotiations, we reached understandings that include improved conditions, rights, and employee welfare, with consideration for all employees and the aim of increasing the company’s value for a better future,” union chair Moti Musai said at the signing. “We thank the Histadrut for their close support throughout the process. We hope and pray for the return of our hostages and for the safety of our soldiers, in the hope of a period of calm and brotherhood in the country.”

Histadrut Chair Arnon Bar-David described the new deal as “a fair and balanced agreement for workers who carry out demanding work, mostly manual labor.” “I commend everyone who took part in shaping this unique and important agreement, which addresses both the needs of the workers and the growth of the company,” he said.

The Histadrut’s regional chair for Ashdod, Haim Shaib, similarly described the deal as a “tremendous achievement.” “We managed to narrow wage gaps, add bonuses, and significantly increase welfare budgets,” he said. “We have created a framework that balances the needs of employees with those of the workplace.”

David Partieli, regional trade union coordinator in Ashdod, praised the “open and constructive dialogue between employees and management,” and Deputy Histadrut Chair Avi Yehezkel praised the deal as “a model for productive cooperation.”

Representatives from management also commended the agreement. “The negotiations were complex but conducted in a spirit of partnership, and for that I am grateful,” KONE Israel CEO Gilad Peleg said, “When both sides understand the benefit of cooperation, it creates a win-win situation. In my view, the agreement is a cornerstone for the high-rise construction industry. It is expected not only to benefit employees but also to improve productivity and the company’s appeal.”

KONE human resources director Lior Amit Rabaniam described the dialogue leading to the agreement as “rational and focused.” “I’m glad we achieved something good for both the employees and the company,” she said.
