Imad Abd al-Hamid Harb, a 36-year-old construction worker from the West Bank, was killed earlier this month while working in Hod Hasharon. Harb was trapped under a mound of soil at a sewer line construction site and was declared dead on the scene by Magen David Adom paramedics.
Harb’s death marks the 20th workplace death so far in 2025. In the first week of March alone, 15 other workers were injured in workplace accidents, four of them seriously.
Other serious incidents in the first week of March include the inhalation of toxic substances by a foreign worker in his 40s. The worker was hospitalized in serious condition. Two electricians, both around 40, received powerful electric shocks while working in Ashdod and were hospitalized in serious condition, and a 45-year-old worker fell from a height of 16 feet at a construction site in Ein HaEmek and was seriously injured.
Eleven additional workers suffered moderate injuries that week, including six workers who fell from heights, two workers injured by heavy objects, and one worker injured by a sharp object. Additionally, a 35-year-old suffered burns after falling into a vat of chemicals in the Sha’ar Ha’Amakim industrial zone, and a 62-year-old preschool teacher lost a finger due to a sharp fence around the schoolyard.
The frequency of workplace accidents in Israel continues to highlight safety concerns, particularly in high-risk industries such as construction and manufacturing.
