
A worker around 30 years old from Ashkelon was killed on Thursday after falling from a crane about 50 meters in the air. He was found at the work site in Ra’anana with no signs of life and multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death came just two days after a worker around 70 years old was killed after being struck by heavy steel coils that fell from a forklift during his work at a steel processing plant in Petah Tikva. The two men’s deaths bring the total number of Israeli workers killed since the beginning of the year to 42, 24 of whom were from the construction industry.
In addition to the two workers killed this week, 17 other workers were injured, five of them seriously.
On Sunday, a 52-year-old worker fell from a balcony about five meters high while working at a construction site in Ra’anana, resulting in moderate injuries to his back, and a 51-year-old worker fell from a height of about four meters while working at a construction site in Giv’at Ze’ev resulting in moderate upper body injuries. A worker around 45 years old was also moderately injured while working at a factory in Afula.
The next day, three workers were moderately injured when they fell from height on work sites in Hadera, Sderot, and Yokneam Illit respectively.
On Tuesday, a worker around 50 years old was seriously injured by heat stroke while doing landscaping work in Kfar Saba, a 60-year-old worker was moderately injured by a forklift at a factory in Mazkeret Batya, and a 29-year-old was moderately injured after falling from height during renovation work in Jatt.
Five more workers were injured on Wednesday, three of whom seriously. A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured after getting caught in a machine at a factory in Sakhnin, a worker around 40 years old was seriously injured after falling from height at a construction site near Laqiya, and a 37-year-old worker was seriously injured after receiving an electric shock at a factory near Buq’ata.
Additionally, a worker around 30 years old was moderately injured on the job in Rahat and a 31-year-old worker was moderately injured on the job in Oranit.
On Thursday, a worker around 40 years old was seriously injured during renovation work in Kafr Qara. Two other workers were moderately injured as well, one of whom fell from a height of about three meters while working in Be’er Sheva, and the other of whom was injured by a machine while working in Shlomi.
The next day, a worker around 30 years old was found with signs of heatstroke at a construction site in Bat Yam. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
