According to police, the shooting began when the attacker opened fire on passersby at a gas station near the entrance to Kokhav Ya'ir. Additional shooting scenes were later reported in the areas of Tzur Yitzhak and Tzur Natan.

Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced the death of a man in his mid-30s who had sustained gunshot wounds and provided medical treatment to five other victims. According to initial reports, two of the wounded are in serious condition and three are in moderate condition, all suffering from penetrating injuries.

Officers from the Central District Police's Tayibe station located the attacker after a brief manhunt, shot and killed him, and recovered the weapon he was carrying.

The assailant, a man in his twenties from Tayibe, fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and was neutralized in the quarry area near the city. According to media reports, he was identified as 21-year-old Omar Yassin of Tayibe. He was not previously known to Israeli security agencies but reportedly had a criminal record.

Following the attack, infiltration alerts were activated in Tzur Yitzhak and Tzur Natan amid concerns that additional attackers might be involved.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Police Commissioner, and the IDF Chief of Staff were briefed on the incident. Security forces from the Israel Security Agency and the police operated in Tayibe, while the IDF established checkpoints along the seam line and imposed closures on several Palestinian villages.

Police later announced the arrest of a second suspect in connection with the attack. According to a police statement, investigators received information indicating that an individual had claimed involvement in the shooting and sought assistance in hiding. Detectives from the Tayibe police station located and arrested the suspect.

During the arrest, the suspect allegedly attempted to attack officers with a glass bottle, but detectives subdued him and took him into custody without injuries. Police forces, Border Police officers, including members of the National Guard, and specialized units continue to conduct searches and investigative operations in the area.

Central District Commander Amir Cohen is at the scene and is holding ongoing situation assessments. The investigation remains ongoing.
